Overview

Once content creators are able to gain recognition through their freely available content, they could also then impose new perks and benefits to their viewers by offering more exclusive content and benefits to individuals who would like to see more of it behind a paywall.

This is sometimes done on a completely separate platform curated for something like Patreon, or Onlyfans. Subscriptions could serve as a good source of monthly recurring revenue that would be more consistent than other forms of monetization. Although sometimes they are on the same platform if it is a live streaming platform.

Limitations

The primary limitation for the subscription model is conversion rates. Typically the most successful influencers and content creators that make the most off subscriptions have a massive online presence. They convert their recognition value into monetization value by introducing limited content behind paywalls.
